Maundy Thursday and Good Friday: Trusting God in Impossible Situations β Psalm 23
Some of the darkest moments in history took place between Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. These were hours filled with uncertainty, fear, and pain. The disciples did not understand what was happening. Everything seemed to fall apart. Yet, God was still in control.
These days remind us that even in the most overwhelming and confusing situations, we can still trust God. Faith is not about perfect circumstances β it is about holding on when everything feels hopeless.
Maundy Thursday β When Everything Begins to Shake
On Maundy Thursday, Jesus shared the Last Supper with His disciples. He knew what was coming. Betrayal, arrest, and suffering were ahead. The disciples did not fully understand. They felt uncertainty and fear.
This reflects how life can feel today. Situations suddenly change. What once felt stable becomes uncertain. But God remains the same.
Even when we do not understand the plan, God is still working.
Good Friday β When Darkness Seems Strongest
Good Friday represents the moment when everything looked lost. Jesus was crucified. Hope seemed gone. The disciples were afraid. The future felt unclear.
This mirrors seasons in life when we feel overwhelmed. When problems appear bigger than faith. When we ask, βGod, where are You?β
But even on Good Friday, God was working. What looked like defeat was actually the beginning of victory.
Psalm 23 β Peace in the Middle of Chaos
In these moments, Psalm 23 becomes powerful:
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me."
Psalm 23 reminds us of three truths:
- God leads us even in dark seasons
- God is with us in the valley
- God gives peace in the storm
Jesus walked through His own βvalley of the shadow of deathβ on Good Friday. Yet the Father was with Him. The same is true for us today.
Trusting God in Impossible Situations
When life feels chaotic, we can choose faith:
- When we donβt understand β trust God
- When we feel afraid β trust God
- When the future is unclear β trust God
- When everything seems hopeless β trust God
Maundy Thursday and Good Friday teach us that God works even in darkness. What looks like the end may be the beginning of something new.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being with me even in the most difficult situations. When I walk through dark seasons, help me trust You. When fear rises, remind me that You are my Shepherd.
Give me peace in the middle of chaos. Strengthen my faith when I do not understand. Help me walk through the valley of the shadow of death without fear, because You are with me.
Teach me to trust You, just as Jesus trusted the Father even on Good Friday. Fill me with hope and remind me that darkness never has the final word.
In Jesusβ name, Amen.
Final Reflection
Maundy Thursday and Good Friday remind us that God is faithful even when life is confusing. Psalm 23 assures us that we never walk alone.
Even in the most impossible situations β God is with you. GOD IS NOT A MAN, THAT HE WOULD LIE, SO HOLD ON TO HIS WORD.
